A day in the port

Here is a beautiful sturgeon about 1.40 meters long, caught in a fishing pond in Holland by our team colleague Darius. The sturgeon gave our colleague a great fight of 2.5 hours on a feeder rod with a casting weight of 60g and a 0.15 mm thick leader. The sturgeon bit on a small bolie.

Here are the fish from the lake today with Marc and me in the main role, supporting role bream and carp. Caught on the new Preston Dutch Master 60g, great rod !!! She did the job without any problems and caught the fish's blows very well. Fished with a 30g basket at 53 meters.

Zammataro 22 Hours Cup 2014 in Maurik

This year, like last year, we took part in the Zammataro Cup 22 hour fishing in Holland.

It was moved from Wamel (lake) to Maurik (Waal "Rhein") at short notice because the lake was very weed and fishing was not possible. It was met on Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. in the club house of the local club. It was a nice get together, where we talked shop, discussed and finally saw many fishing colleagues again. The organization was good and everything went smoothly. It was fair togetherness from the start. Only a paddock was disqualified on Sunday morning because you had stones in your keep net. At this point it should be said again that something like that is not proper, we want the fish to be handled in a grazing manner, and that we will still benefit from it in the next few years. At 7:30 on Saturday, Kurt Kricke starts drawing the starting places. We moved to seat number 18, which was below the weir and was a head seat. When we got to our fishing spot, we quickly noticed that there is an eddy in the front area. Of course, we take advantage of this for ourselves and close the area. In the course of time all the other teams came down and we noticed that we had Team Zammataro 1 (16th place), HJG Drescher (17th place) and other very good teams with us in the sector. But cheer up, we'll make the best of it. We set up our fishing tackle, searched the bottom with several casts in order to find a good spot. Food, bait, dips, feeder arm, platform, seat box, etc. were brought into position. The starting shot was given at 10 a.m. and now it was time to fish for 22 hours and make the most of it. The fish set in quickly, but unfortunately we couldn't use the first bites. We fished the Dutch Master 130G feeder rod from Preston Innovations with a 110 and 90 G claw basket at a distance of 25 meters and 28 meters. Little by little one fish came after the other and so we were able to keep up with the other teams. However, the bites on the other teams stopped after a very short time. But we had the ambition to keep our result from last year. Since we had achieved the overall victory with 120KG, and so the baskets with Black Sultan (Zammataro), Kaster, worms, corn and maggots flew into the water every 2 minutes. The tactic worked, and we were always able to pull one or the other fish over the edge of the net. Bit by bit the word got around that the upper sector catches only very badly. We had the teams next to us under control, so not bad so far, nothing wrong. Then the message came in place 1 - 5 Catch every Mende fish, what now! Regardless, we continue as before. And the end will show. We had hoped that the big bream would come in the night, but this was not the case. The darker it got, the longer you had to wait for a bite. It ended on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. Let's see how things are this time around us. We had our sector under control as far as we assessed and could see, but what about 1st - 5th place?

After the weighing it was certain! We got the sector win and the pool win, unfortunately this time it was not enough to make it all 1 again. The team from 1st place secured the 1st overall victory with 82 KG. We made 2nd place overall with 66.5 KG. So we didn’t match our result from last year, but to make the overall 2 at such an event with a lot of good anglers already shows our strength of the team.

I would like to thank:

Kurt Kricke for the organization, well done keep it up.

With my team: Reinhard, Marc, Darius and me

At Preston Innovations for the fishing equipment (rods, reels, seat box, feeder arm, etc.).

At Michael Zammataro for the good food.

We will be there again next year and we hope, as always, for a fair competition with good fishing colleagues!

So now all I have to do is say thank you and

Petrie Heil you Friedfischspezi !!!

Zammataro Cup 24 hours 2013

We came to the appointment in the morning and were in a good mood, the organization had done a great job, so we could drive the car to the square. We were allowed to move last and got place No. 16. We set up our seat box and mixed food. We had 2 types of feed on the program, both from the Zammataro company. Darius mixed the feed Reiner and I built the rods, seat boxes, feeder box on the keep net looking for a place in the water with the feeder rod, done. Darius and Reiner fished at a length of 39 meters, I found a spot at 58 meters. The starting shot came and we started. Unfortunately, our colleague Marc had to work and so came later. We fed the places and were able to catch the first fish on the short run after a short time. While nothing happened on the long track. After 2 hours we decided to give up the long track and I looked for a new place at 20 meters. This turned out to be correct. And when our colleague Marc was finally with us at 1 p.m., Reiner and I were finally able to take a break. Darius and Marc kept fishing, catching fish at regular intervals. I went around with Reiner to see how things are in our sector. It turned out that the participants were all lying up the same way and you could hear 8 bream, 10 bream, 9 bream etc. We continued to fish unchanged the whole day and continued to catch our fish. From 7:00 p.m. we switched and fed more food and bait and were able to keep the fish with us all night. Little by little a keep net was added and in the morning it looked pretty good for us, but what had the others done during the night? Final whistle, now came the question is it enough? And so the first weights of the sectors went around, then it was our turn, and after the weighing we had a total of almost 120 kg, yes, it was the winner in the sector. After consulting the other sectors, no not just sector overall victory. Team Feuerlein and Friends with 107 kg from the sector opposite was the second. A very successful event with a lot of danger and collegial interaction, very commendable. I would like to thank the organizers again and express my praise for this successful event, also on behalf of my team.
